Jesse and Marcie's big day went great.  Everything went so smoothly that it just seemed to go so fast!  Before we knew it our memory cards were full and the night was closing nicely and everyone was having a blast dancing.

PS have to mention...Marcie and Jesse have the cutest little ones :)

I would like to start this weeks blog off by saying, that as Iowa has only recently allowed same sex marriage,  that this is Elite Image's first gay wedding.  AND it was BEAUTIFUL.  Meredith and Jessie were the epitome of a happy couple in love.  I think that we couldn't have shown this any other way then by the easygoing, candid style of photography that they choose for us to capture their special day.  Weddings don't always have to be formal shots formal shots formal shots!  We love being able to photograph candid, real expressions.

We started off the day dodging the Ragbrai riders all over Dubuque and traveled to Davenport, IA just down the Mighty Mississippi from us.  The girls got ready seperately, Meredith at her mom and dad's and Jessie at the Radisson  downtown Davenport.  The girls meeting for the first time was really special.  Jessie's dad made sure she kept her eyes closed until the very last moment :)

We only had a little bit of time before we had to get to the Outing Club, but we headed to a couple cool locations downtown Davenport on the VIP bus first...which was a super cool way to shuttle guests to and from the wedding.  We stopped down by the river, and just a cool over pass on our way back to the Outing Club.

The outdoor ceremony was really pretty and the great food and dancing inside the ballroom later was even better.  Hope you all enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed creating them.  I hope that they will be a lasting memory of a perfect day.

$5000 date tab

Rachel's dad shared a story with us on the day of her wedding that was truly precious.   As a young girl Rachel thought without a doubt that she would never be asked out by a boy.  Her dad, clearly knowing that his beautiful daughter would be asked on many dates in time, cleverly bet her that she would be asked out...and for every time she was asked out she would owe him $10.  Well im sure the tab is now something like $5000 as Rachel is clearly a gorgous young women...but most importantly of all the young man that won her heart was Jon Heiar.

Clearly a day that Rachel has looked forward to for a long time, The Heiar's big day was wonderful.  Before the ceremony location or the reception venue were booked, the couple excitedly called to book Elite Images for their photographer!  So I think it is safe to say she was excited about her photography!  She had great place to stop in mind and a ton of great shots that she wanted to be sure to get.  We stopped by Loras College, Washington Park, and Downtown Dubuque before finally making our way to the reception at the Grand River Center.

We had a ton of fun and hope you love the images!

Shelby and Billy 7-17-10

Despite the heat and fish flies we had a great time last saturday photographing an adorable wedding.

We were super thankful for Stone Cliff Winery ever so graciously allowing us to photograph their too. :)

The band was great and I know that Shelby's stepdad Timmy was there for every minute of the day.

Thank you guys so much for letting us share in your day.  I know you will cherish these images that

you and your very special family and friends got to be apart of.

Natalie and Brandon had a beautiful day. Their ceremony was at St. Joseph's and the reception was at Hotel Julien. The decorations for the reception were incredible. We also made a stop at the University of Dubuque where we created some gorgeous family portraits. Enjoy the slideshow!

  Erin and John - 6-19-10

Although we did have to battle a little wind, the day was beautiful.

AND more importantly...i know we have seen John play the piano and sing 'Piano Man' before but it just doesn't get old.

Capturing moments like these are why we love photographing weddings.  Every wedding is unique and every wedding requires you to be on your toes.

From the size of this wedding party you can definitely tell how many people wanted to share in making Kayla and Bobby's day spectacular.  Here is a sneak peak of some of the images.

Mom's speech was so wonderful.  Not only was the speech very funny, fueled new nicknames and touched on old ones, but it was wonderfully heartfelt.

I am so glad we were able to be apart of this beautiful day.

Thank you for letting us share in another beautiful family wedding :)
